TRADITIONAL RHODOPEAN WEDDING IN ETHNOGRAPHIC COMPLEX - ZLATOGRAD
Ninth January 2010 - the wedding day of Tsvetina and Kostadin. They have chosen to marry amongst the natural scenery of Ethnographic complex-Zlatograd - white houses with round chimneys - almost 150 years old, cobblestone roads, old chirches....
The bridegroom has arrived at the home of his bride with two dressed donkeys. The backpipe is playing the very famous Rhodopean song "Ela se vie previva" that tells the story of farewell between the daughter who is going to a new family and her mother. Riding the donkeys the bride and the groom went to the chirch "The Assumption of the Holly mother" since 1834. After the wedding ceremony the wedding guests went to the "At the Water mill" tavern where was their wedding dinner. Tsvetina and Kostadin regaled their guests with traditional meals from Zlatograd region - some of them have tasted patatnik, klin and sarmi for very first time.
It is not so easy to have such a wedding - it requires a special preparation. In the beggining were the traditional hand made costumes - they have been made by the dressmakers from the Tailor's workshop of the Complex.Kostadin liked the local man's costume at first sight and Tsvetina as each woman chose the model, the textile and the sewing silver threds for her traditional wedding dress. Our cutler made buckle for her wollen braiding belt. Tsvetina made special gifts to her wedding guests - hand made cotton cloths from the Tailor's workshop. Part of the guests were also dressed in traditional cosumes, hired from the Complex.
The team of Ethnographic complex-Zlatograd wish them long and happy domestic life.
