Producing wooden Easter eggs
During the Easter holidays in the Ethnographic complex there will be a demonstration of carving and decorating wooden eggs. On April 23rd the craftsman Peter Lazarov will demonstrate his skills for carving and painting wooden eggs out on the square where a special carving workshop will be opened so that everyone who wants could try to make and dye their own eggs. Craftsman Peter Lazarov became famous with his ability to make wooden eggs with inlays and carving techniques called ala "Faberge". The technique which he uses, he saw in India years ago, and he decided to apply it on eggs. The wooden eggs - souvenirs are mostly made of walnut tree and the largest one is 60 cm long. Carving cuts are done in the wooden egg with special blades and aluminum wire which is 3 mm thick, and is embedded on the egg. Sometimes natural pearl or pieces of goat horn are also engrafted on the eggs and then they are painted. The most original wooden eggs that the craftsman has done are three interconnected wooden eggs, which have one and the same woodcarving when they are opened.
